Hyundai has introduced the new Ioniq 3, a subcompact electric hatchback developed specifically for Europe. Combining practical dimensions, distinctive design, and efficient powertrain options, the model is expected to become one of the brand’s most popular EVs in the region.

Hyundai Motor has unveiled the new Hyundai Ioniq 3, a compact urban electric hatchback developed specifically with the European market in mind. According to the manufacturer, the model is expected to become one of the brand’s best-selling EVs in the region thanks to its combination of practical packaging, modern design, and competitive pricing.

With an overall length of 4.17 meters and a 2.68-meter wheelbase—matching the dimensions of the Hyundai Tucson—the Ioniq 3 combines a tall, practical body style with a distinctive, forward-looking exterior design. Among the most notable styling features are the split rear window with an integrated spoiler, reminiscent of early-2000s Honda Civic models, as well as the wedge-shaped side window profile that emphasizes the car’s dynamic proportions.

Inside, the Hyundai Ioniq 3 reflects its position as an accessible entry-level electric vehicle. The interior features a minimalist design approach, using a reduced number of components made from recycled polymers. Nevertheless, it includes key features expected by modern buyers, such as a large infotainment display measuring 12.9 or 14.6 inches depending on trim level, wireless smartphone charging, and practical storage solutions including dual cupholders.

Unlike many recent EVs, the Ioniq 3 avoids excessive reliance on touch controls. Physical buttons are retained for climate functions and seat heating, improving usability during everyday driving. Unique design elements include a column-mounted gear selector and a full-width storage shelf integrated into the dashboard. The luggage compartment, equipped with a false floor and retractable cover, offers 441 liters of cargo capacity, according to the manufacturer.

For European customers, Hyundai will offer the Ioniq 3 in front-wheel-drive configuration with two powertrain options: a 147 hp electric motor paired with a 42.2 kWh battery, or a 135 hp motor combined with a larger 61 kWh battery.

In the future, Hyundai is also planning a performance-oriented Hyundai Ioniq 3 N variant featuring all-wheel drive, output approaching 300 hp, a sport styling package, and chassis upgrades tuned for more dynamic driving.

Production of the Hyundai Ioniq 3 will take place in Turkey, positioning the model competitively for the European market.
