The new Toyota bZ7 electric sedan has attracted strong demand in China, with over 3,100 orders placed within the first hour of sales. The full-size model combines competitive pricing, advanced driver assistance technology, and up to 278 hp with battery options up to 88 kWh.
The GAC-Toyota joint venture has launched sales of the new Toyota bZ7 electric sedan in China, offering a large, well-equipped model at an aggressively competitive price. In the Chinese market, the bZ7 starts at the equivalent of approximately $21,500 for the base version and reaches about $29,000 for the fully equipped variant, making it one of the most attractively priced full-size EVs in its segment.
Despite the wide selection of electric vehicles already available in China, the debut of the Toyota bZ7 generated significant interest among buyers. Within the first hour after order books opened, GAC-Toyota received more than 3,100 reservations, demonstrating strong initial demand for the model.
The Toyota bZ7 is a large five-seat sedan with an overall length of 5.13 meters and a 3.02-meter wheelbase, positioning it firmly in the full-size segment. The car features rear-wheel drive, emphasizing balanced driving dynamics and efficient packaging.
The vehicle is equipped with an advanced sensor suite designed to support semi-autonomous driving and driver assistance technologies. This includes LiDAR, five high-frequency radar units, 11 high-resolution cameras, and 10 ultrasonic sensors, enabling the system to accurately analyze surrounding traffic conditions.
From a design standpoint, the Toyota bZ7 features a clean and cohesive exterior without excessive styling elements. Its forward-leaning profile and sloping roofline give the sedan a sporty appearance, while still providing generous rear passenger space and a practical luggage compartment.
The powertrain consists of a 278 hp electric motor, paired with either a 71 kWh or 88 kWh battery, allowing buyers to choose between cost efficiency and extended driving range.
